Short Film Festival’s Art to Film Rules
Overview:
The Art To Film Contest is a unique Short Film Festival Contest that challenges filmmakers to transform visual art into captivating short films.
The Short Film Festival will display artwork created by visual artists.
(Artwork can be found on Shortff.com)
Filmmakers will choose one or more of the three art pieces presented and create a short 2-5 minute film based on their interpretation of the artwork.
The filmmaker must also include the art somewhere in the film /story.
Selected films will be judged on artistic creativity, editing, and adherence to Art to Film rules. (Below)
Awards & Prizes Prizes will be presented to the winner(s) at the Awards Ceremony on the evening of Saturday, June 29, 2024.

Awards & Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the winners during the Awards Ceremony on the evening of Saturday, June 29, 2024. Winners will receive A Physical Award, or Cash Prize will be Awarded
Selected films will be screened during the Short Film Festival’s Art to Screen event on June 29, 2024. Films can be submitted at https://filmfreeway.com/ShortFF
All entries should include a mini press pack with a one-paragraph synopsis, a short staff biography, and a photo of the director and producer for promotional use.
All Entries should include a cast list, including high-quality photos for promotional use.
Submission fees are non-refundable.

Terms and Rules
Selected films will be screened during the Short Film Festival’s Art to Screen event on June 29, 2024, at Express Newark, 54 Halsey ST. Newark, N.J. 07102
Films can be submitted at https://filmfreeway.com/ShortFF
All submissions for the ART to FILM CONTEST must be received by June 15, 2024.
All entries should include a mini press pack with a one-paragraph synopsis, a short staff biography, and a photo of the director and producer for promotional use if available.
All Entries should include a cast list and, if available, high-quality photos for promotional use.
- Films must be between 2 and 5 minutes, including credits.
- Films must be submitted online with download capabilities enabled.
- Filmmakers may make multiple submissions, but you must submit projects separately and are required to pay entry fees for each film submitted.
- Entries must include contact information for all submission materials, including an email address and phone number.
- The Short Film Festival reserves the right to screen any film projects submitted to the Newark Short Film Awards.
- You must supply us with your contact information to receive your Award at our Awards Show. (Name /Phone / Email/ Address)
- The Short Film Festival has the right to post selected films on its website or use clips for promotional purposes.
- All Short Film Festival decisions are final and at our discretion.
- Foreign language entries must have English language subtitles.
- Films must have been produced between April 18th – June 15, 2024.
- The producer confirms that all release agreements for the submission, including music copyright clearance, are in place and will take full responsibility for any matter arising from its broadcast.
- Credits – the end credits for Films submitted to the
Short Film Festival’s ART TO FILM CONTEST must include a credit reading:

- There are no age restrictions for filmmakers, but the SUBMITTER MUST be at least 18 years of age.
- Submission fees are non-refundable.
